1000 years in Southwark
This was a commission for Borough Market to mark its origin in the Southwark area - estimated to be around 1014. I was asked to create a picture using local and historical landmarks and aspects of the current Market. The image features Old London Bridge, Southwark Cathedral, and the Shard behind the Market stalls.
The Illustration was based on several drawings made in a sketchbook during frequent visits to the Market.
The finished Illustration used on banner designs around Borough Market.
The image had to be used for a variety of purposes - some of which only required the line work without colour. To do this, I drew the pen lines and painted the watercolour on two different sheets of paper; these were then layered together digitally, where they could be separated if needed.
A limited edition bag - 1000 were made available for a short time at the Market.
