I'm a freelance illustrator based in South London. Particular inspirations include many of my favourite places, interesting architecture, street markets, everyday scenes, bicycles, and people wandering about. London is a constant source of new and exciting places to paint.
Most of my work is made completely on location. There's an unpredictability and spontaneity to this that I find really appealing. I also enjoy meeting and talking to a wide variety of people - often this has inspired me in different ways. Sometimes they end up in the picture!
I feel that drawing from life is a really rewarding process and is always teaching me new things to appreciate about my surrounding environment.
I cycle to most places with an oversized courier bag. This often contains the following: a purpose built box with large sheets of watercolour paper (a little under A2 in size), and all kinds of art supplies including watercolours, brushes, dip pens, Indian ink, gouache, wax crayons, oil pastels, water pots, promo cards, safety scissors, masking tape, and a folding chair.
Recently I've begun experimenting with more art materials and this has helped me to see many familiar places in new ways.
I've been fortunate enough to illustrate for and have work purchased by:
Borough Market / Chelsea Physic Garden / Marks & Spencer / Hodder & Stoughton / Sipsmith Independent Distillers / The Poetry Society / Tigerprint / The Society for the Protection of Ancient Buildings / Creative Identity / The Sunday Telegraph / Jamie Hendry Productions / Marchpane Books / BMI Voyager / JD Wetherspoon / Performance & Wellbeing / Michael Harrison Entertainment / S.W. Mitchell Capital / Octopus Publishing Group / Alex Risdale Catering / 177 Club / The Waterside Cafe / Miguel Barclay / Bates Hats / SB Consulting / Ritzy Cinema / Archigrafika / Willis Towers Watson
As well as commercial work, I also create bespoke art for private clients and am always happy to discuss if you have a particular idea in mind.
